Who we are
Our team

We are proud to be a clinically–led company (three of our four co-founders are doctors).

Our team has long-standing experience in digital health, developing and evaluating solutions, informing policymaking, advising businesses and health systems and conducting research.

We have a unique mix of academic, clinical, and consulting skills, which allows us to deliver practical insights with academic rigour and to manage complex projects.

We work closely with a group of trusted advisors who complement our team’s skills. They include senior academics, health economists, global health systems experts and education technologists.

Prof Ara Darzi

Chair and co-founder

Professor Darzi is a globally recognised health innovation pioneer. He is the Director of the Institute of Global Innovation at Imperial College London and has served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Health and the UK’s Global Ambassador for Health and Life Sciences.

Gianluca Fontana

Chief Executive Officer and co-founder

Gianluca has overseen the delivery of high-profile research, education and consulting projects, including the NHS Digital Academy, the REACT Covid-19 prevalence study, the World Innovation Summit for Health and the Centre for Health Policy of Imperial College London. He started his career as a management consultant at McKinsey and Company.

Dr Jack Halligan

Chief Operating Officer and co-founder

Jack has worked across clinical medicine, digital health and consulting in Ireland, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Jack studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and holds an MBA from INSEAD. He worked as a management consultant at McKinsey and Company.

Dr Saira Ghafur

Chief Medical Officer
and co-founder

Saira is an honorary consultant Respiratory Physician at St Mary’s Hospital, London and digital health expert who has published on topics such as cybersecurity, digital health adoption and reimbursement, data privacy and commercialising health data. She is the co-founder of mental health start-up Psyma and holds a MSc in Health Policy from Imperial. Saira was also a Harkness Fellow in Health Policy and Practice in New York (2017).

Owen Bray

Head of Operations

Owen has worked in management roles in higher education, business incubation and the third sector. Most recently, Owen managed the operations and strategic projects for the NIHR Patient Safety Translational Research Centre at Imperial College London, as well as for a national charity supporting start ups in the creative industries.

Dr Des Conroy

Consultant

Des is a medical doctor who has worked in clinical practice in the UK and Ireland. He studied medicine at the University of Galway. He previously worked as a Digital Health Clinician at a large health tech company, where he provided clinical input to the development and validation of AI-based SaMD products.

Lina Gonzalez

Administrator

Lina is an aspiring health economist who has recently graduated with a first class honours BSc in Economics from the University of Essex. She is currently pursuing an MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science at University College London.

Saylee Jangam

Consultant

Saylee is a biosensor and wearables researcher at Imperial College London and holds a BEng in Bioengineering from the University of Sheffield. As part of her PhD, she has led phase I clinical validation of wearable sensors and published results in high impact journals. She has experience with medical device R&D in the FMCG industry.

Dr Mehul Patel

Senior Consultant

Mehul is a GP and Health Informatician. He has worked in Clinical Lead and Clinical Safety roles for multiple digital health companies.
He holds an MSc in Health Informatics from UCL/University of Manchester.
He has completed a Health Education England Fellowship in Informatics involving national-level informatics projects within the NHS.
